Shaker Support
SHAKER™ Heavy Truck & Light Pickup Truck Compatibility
NOTE: As Installation Of The SHAKER Requires That The Wire Harness Be Fed Through The Vehicle’s Firewall, We Highly Recommend That You Use A Qualified Mechanic To Install The SHAKER
SHAKER™ Is Compatible With The Majority of Heavy Truck & Light Pickup Truck Wiper Arm/Blades Configurations. Specifically, The Most Common Are Of The 9mm x 3mm and 9mm x 4mm HOOK Wiper Arm Variety. Should Your Truck Have Tubular(round); or 12mm Wiper Arms (as found on some Mack Trucks); or GM Vented Wiper Arms; or If Your Wiper Arm is Using a Flat Wiper Blade On An Original Equipment Bayonet Type Wiper Arm, We Have Adapters Available, As Are Shown Below.
NOTE: The SHAKER™ Is Not Currently Compatible With Dual Tubular Wiper Arms, As Would Be Found On A Large Touring Bus (as they exceed the recommended operational length; See FAQ #20 or Wiper Arms That Also Have An Idler Arm Attachment (as the SHAKER™ could come in contact with the moving attachment).
Flat Wiper Blade Adapter (Part #LA001K)
GM Vented Wiper Arm Adapter (Part #GM001K)
For General Installation, Please Ensure Your Wiper Arms/Blades Are:
- In Good Condition
- Using The Proper Wiper Blade Adapter Piece That Comes With Your Wiper Blade Each Time You Replace Your Wiper Blade Every Six Months (e.g., So That The Blade Snuggly Fits With Little Lateral Wobble)
- Also, As per our Compatibility chart, If Your Vehicle Has A Spoiler Mounted To The Wiper Arm/Blade, It Must Be Removed To Allow For Proper Flush Mounting Of The SHAKER™ Clamp Head. Contact Wiper Shaker Technology Regarding Availability Of An Appropriate Spoiler Adapter If Required, i.e., In Cases Where The Spoiler May Be Riveted And Thus Cannot Be Removed.
- As per our Compatibility chart, the SHAKER™ is typically not compatible with vehicles older than 1992. Prior to 1992, although there might have been a small percentage of vehicles that utilized a “hook” wiper arm, they also tended to recess the wiper arm portion down inside of the wiper blade housing, thus not leaving three (3) edges of the wiper arm (i.e., the 2 sides and the top of the wiper arm) open to the SHAKER™ clamp. Note : As of the 2006-2007 Season, Our Main Focus Has Been With The Heavy Trucking Industry, Thus This Database for Passenger Vehicles Has Not Been Updated Except for Ford Models
- While the installation of the SHAKER™ is relatively simple, it does require the passing of a wire harness through the firewall, thus we strongly recommend individuals have a qualified mechanic do the installation.
In order to not VOID warranty, please ensure proper wire harness slack, AKA “Strain Relief” at wiper arm hinge area, as directed in the image below.
Note:
Please use the Nylon UV cable ties included in our kits and DO NOT exceed 40lbs of tightening pressure (as might occur if using a cable tie gun). NEVER USE METAL CABLE TIES or others that might leave indentations in the SHAKER wire harness, as this could damage the internal wire conductors.

Note:
In Most Cases, You Will Not Require Any Adjustment To Your Wiper Arm To Properly Mount a SHAKER™. As per our Compatibility chart, In a very Small Percentage of Vehicles, It May Be Necessary To Make A Minor “Spline” Adjustment Of The Wiper Arm, Which Means Loosening The Wiper Arm Mounting Nut and Then Shifting The Wiper Arm On The Mounting Spline By One Position – We highly recommend a qualified Mechanic do this when they are doing the installation of the SHAKER™ itself.

Please Read The Following Recommendations:
- Remember That The SHAKER™ Wiper De-icer, Is Just That, i.e., It Is NOT A Windshield De-icer, So Use Your Ice Scraper For That Purpose, but be careful not to damage the SHAKER™ wire harness.
- The SHAKER™ Will Help Maintain Good Wiper Blade Performance while driving (assuming the wiper blade is in good condition to start with). So Before You Start Your Journey, Please Ensure Your Wiper Blades & Windshield Have Been Cleared of frozen debris.
- Replace Your Wiper Blades Every 6 Months As Recommended By Wiper Manufactures. During Each 6 Month Period, You Can Help Maintain Good Wiper Performance, By Cleaning The Wiper Blade Edge With A Soft Cloth Soaked With Windshield Washer Fluid.
- Each Time You Replace Your Wiper Blades, Also Clean Your Windshield With A Non-abrasive Cleaner, e.g., “Bon-Ami”
- Always Ensure That Your SHAKER™ Is Properly Fixed To The Wiper Arm Of Your Vehicle – Consult Our Installation Page Or Your Technical Manual For Proper Mounting.
- If You Are Going To Use The SHAKER™ To Solve “Conformance” and “A-pillar” Build-up Problems, You Must Use The SHAKER™ At The First Signs Of Any Problems, Otherwise, The Build-up Could Become Unmanageable.
- If You Have Your Vehicle Washed, Turn On Both Your Wipers And The SHAKER™ For Approximately 5 Seconds Before Completely Exiting the Car Wash – This Should Effectively “Shake” Any Excess Water From The Blades. Doing This Will Help Prevent The Cold Air From Freezing Up Your Wiper Blade , i.e. “Conformance” Problems.
